Sunday, April 19,a rainy day in Rome. Yesterday we spent 4 hours with Louisa,( picture with Gale) from our hotel walking around some of the favorite attractions of Rome. It was really nice to have the personal touch of a person who knows the city and a lot of its history. The exercise took its toll on both of us and the walking on cobbelstones is sure hard on the feet and legs. Today is a rainy and cold day. However we still ventured out to tour the Colosseum. We took a guided tour and learned some amazing information about the history of the building and of Rome. Considering that the arena was built over 2000 years ago,the remaining parts of the building have sure passed the time and the fact that a good portion still exists is a credit to the inginuity of the builders. After the tour we were wet and cold and just wanted to go some where warm an dry. A small tratorria for a glass of red wine and a hearty bowl of soup went very well. Not very plesant to take on any other tourist stuff today, so we will stay inour room and wait until dinner. Our last night in Rome and we leave on the train for Venice in the morning. I hope that the weather man is kinder to us there.

Hi Guys!
Too bad about the weather. Today is lovely and warm. I visited Nan yesterday for quite awhile. Very nice to see Julie and her girls. Bonnie came with Katherine. Nan had bought a couple of PC Pizzas, she had made a large salad and put some sweets out. XOXOXO take are, love to you both.
OK, we've figured out how to post a comment. Sunday morning here. Sarah and I have just read all of your journal entries and checked out the photos. Looks like you're having a great time! We had a few laughs. Sarah & Marion visited Helen this past week. She's doing fine. Golfers are out in force for the first time this season and Sophie is stealing their golf balls. Her new invisible fence doesn't seem to be working very well.
Your travel blog is a great idea and we really enjoy it although we have to admit being a bit jealous 'cause you're there and we're here!!
Hope you enjoy the rest of your vacation and have a safe flight home.
Don & Sarah
