Rome day 1

We finally have made it to Rome. Our flight from Toronto was 90 minutes longer than scheduled because of excessive head winds over the Atlantic so we did not arrive in Rome until 12:30. The immigration and customs procedures seemed to be almost non existent and we quickly were able to get our baggage and be on our way. The limo driver was waiting for us and had us to our hotel very promptly. The hotel is small but very nice, as are the staff. Gale and I went for a short walk about just to get our bearings and see a few things. We walked down the Spanish Steps and around the Trevi Fountain before heading back to the Hotel. We also visited a really neat grotto where Monks took the bones of the deceased and used them to decorate several small rooms. The effect was amazing, although you have to see it to really appreciate the effect. Tomorrow morning we are going on a walking tour with one of the staff members and we are looking forward to that. Just now I am letting Gale have a few zzz's while I put this first entry into the blog. We have a dinner reservation at 7:30 and I am very hungry. The Air Canada cuisine sure left a lot to be desired.
bye for now and we will catch you later.

All is well here - Mark and I have 2 R.E.A. coming over tomorrow to assess the house... will keep you posted!

I blogged about your travels on "thesissonfamily" website yesterday. Enjoy yourselves!
