April 21 Venice

We really have had a full day today. We left the hotel and walked through the market area that surrounds our hotel . Fresh seafood , fish and produce to make your mouth water. This is truly a fantastic area . We then headed towards St Marks Square to see the Doge's Palace and the Correr Museum. Once again the history of this city shines through and portrays the wealth and splendor of its time. It is amazing that the people of Venice had such a workable method of government so many years ago. The Doge's palace is really beautiful. We then visited the Correr museum and got our fill of art appreciation for the day. After our culture fill for today we got on the vaperatto and departed for the island of Murano. This island is home to the famous Murano glass works industry. The boat ride lasted approximately 45 minutes and on the way we were able to see much more of the Venice waterfront and the architecture of the buildings that seem to defy all reason to keep standing when the waters continually lap away at the foundations. Gale was in her element once we arrived at Murano. A virtual jewelry and blown glass heaven. I think that we were lucky to avoid taking out future mortgages against her purchases. The weather was starting to threaten as we left the island and we headed back to the hotel. Tonight we had a fantastic seafood meal at a place recommended by the person at the hotel desk. Trattoria da Bepi was fantastic and we both were completely full after the meal. A short stop on the way back gave me the opportunity to enjoy a small justif before returning to the hotel to fulfill my blog responsibilities. Now you may understand if the content is long winded. Bye for now and we have one more day in Venice before we head to Chianti and Tuscany.
